Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN with WI or compact license and telemetry testing clearance for a rotating day/night assignment at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adult and geriatric patients under the Family Medicine service
• Unit includes a locked wing for Department of Corrections patients, ranging from 0-10 at a time, always accompanied by a DOC officer
• Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 / 1900-0730) with every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Day/Night rotators limited to 2 flips within a 6-week schedule unless requested otherwise, with 36 hours off required between flipped shifts
• Requires 36 hours off between end of night shift and start of day shift when flipping
• Floating required as needed
• EPIC EMR used, experience required
• Telemetry monitoring performed on the unit

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
• EPIC EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with strict passing criteria, including 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification and 80%+ overall score
• First-time travelers considered only with 5+ years of previous inpatient med/surg experience
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, PICC line management, and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation/management

Additional Information

• Care for adult and geriatric med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses
• Provide care to Department of Corrections patients in a secured wing under officer supervision
• Facility is a Magnet-designated, top-ranked teaching hospital and referral center
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted

• Parking permit required if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available
