Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a high-acuity Med/Surg Telemetry unit requiring 2 years of recent acute care experience and a Maine or compact RN license.

Details

  • 13-week travel contract on a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical/med-tele unit
  • 44-bed unit with an embedded 6-bed intermediate care area
  • Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night
  • Cares for high-acuity, cardiac, and med-tele patient populations
  • Works with IVs, PCAs, epidurals, air mattresses, Ketamine drips, complex wounds and burns, trauma care, tube feedings, NGs, drains, Foleys, Heparin drips, wound vac dressings, specialty beds, central lines, PICCs, PEGs, trachs, chest tubes, and JPs
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required as needed within a 25-mile radius between facilities

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Maine or compact) required at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute/high-acuity care experience required
  • Cardiac care experience strongly preferred
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to high-acuity surgical and cardiac telemetry patients in a fast-paced team environment
  • Fragrance-free unit with a scrub policy allowing any color
  • Prohibited attire includes AirPods/headphones, hoodies, tight or ill-fitting clothing, open-toe shoes, logo/graphic wear, and gel polish or artificial nails
  • Cell phone, laptop, and AirPod use is prohibited on the unit
  • Candidates within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility are considered local, and local travelers are not eligible for contract renewals or extensions
  • RTO should be minimal, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract at the manager's discretion
  • Candidates who have worked at a MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months must disclose this information
