Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of specialty experience and current EPIC proficiency.

Details

• Critical Access Hospital setting on a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit with some Progressive Care patients
• Patient population includes med-surg, telemetry, orthopedic, urology, ENT, GYN, and general surgery cases ranging from young adults to end-of-life care
• Nurse-to-patient ratio generally 1:4 or 1:5 based on acuity
• Supported by 2-3 LNA/CNA/PCT staff per shift and unit clerks as available
• 24/7 hospitalist coverage dedicated to the unit, with respiratory therapy support for ventilator management
• Unit functions as the facility's Code 99, Rapid Response, Fall, and IV team
• 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required at least every other weekend
• Floating is voluntary and not required
• Uses EPIC for documentation and PYXIS for medication management
• Special equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Phillips cardiac monitors

Requirements

• Active VT or compact RN license required
• AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience required
• Progressive care experience preferred
• EPIC experience within the past 2 years required
• Prior travel nursing experience required

• Provide direct patient care across a mixed medical, telemetry, and surgical population, including short-term progressive care patients
• Written protocols are in place to support patients requiring a higher level of care while transfer arrangements are made

• House supervisors and on-call managers are available for support when unit leadership is off-site
• 24/7 lab and X-ray services are available to support patient care
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of the following 4 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day
• No block scheduling permitted under any circumstances
• Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended, as public transportation is not accessible in the area
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
• Local candidates within 50 miles and radius candidates within 50-100 miles are accepted
