Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holidays required | Expected 36 hours/week or 36/48 hours bi-weekly based on facility needs | Block scheduling cannot be accommodated — scheduling is managed by the unit manager based on facility needs

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 25-bed Med/Surgical Telemetry unit with patient ratios of 5–6:1, caring for patients with diagnoses including CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and general med/surg telemetry conditions
• Titrate Heparin drips as required; manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; telemetry monitor techs are present but RNs are responsible for strip interpretation
• Float to all med/surg units and potentially to the PCU to care for telemetry holds prior to transfer
• Document patient care using the Paragon charting system (facility transitioning to EPIC in October 2026)
• Collaborate with Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, Nurse Educators, and PCTs (12:1 ratio) to deliver quality patient care in a rural community hospital setting

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in Texas or a compact state
• Minimum 18 months of recent Medical/Surgical Telemetry experience
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Strong communication and time management skills; must be a collaborative team player adaptable to a high-traveler-reliant environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience working in a rural hospital setting
• Familiarity with Paragon or EPIC electronic health record systems
• Experience managing patients on CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
