Job Summary:
The ICU Medical (Intensive Care Unit Medical) registered nurse position is located in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing patient care in a high-acuity environment with a focus on ventilated patients, sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, and other critical conditions. The position requires interpreting EKG strips, managing arterial and central lines, and titrating vasopressors and vasoactive drugs.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with shifts running from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association; at least 1 year of ICU experience; ability to interpret EKG strips, manage arterial and central lines, and titrate vasoactive medications.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ventilated patients, use of telemetry monitors, and proficiency in troubleshooting telemetry equipment.
• Additional Information: The unit is a COVID designated MICU, with prior primary diagnoses including sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, alcohol withdrawal, and overdose. The team includes a charge nurse (travelers float first), nurse aides at a ratio of 1 PCT to 10 patients, and in-house hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7. Telemedicine intensivist support is provided during evenings, and telemetry monitors are Philips brand, monitored by tele techs. The unit requires nurses to read and interpret telemetry strips and respond to alarms and troubleshooting beyond basic care. Orientation includes 8 hours of Epic training, 8 hours with educators, 4 hours shadowing, and 12 hours preceptorship. Scrubs are not provided; no specific dress code applies. No call or standby requirements; every other weekend work is required, and weekend shifts alternate between day and night.
