Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical ICU night shift position requiring an active or conditional MA RN license and ICU experience.

Details

  • Work in the Medical ICU of a hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • Required to work every other weekend and holiday
  • Floating to other adult ICUs required as needed
  • Epic charting system preferred
  • Scheduling is based on unit needs; no block schedules accommodated
  • Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days

Requirements

  • Active or conditional MA RN license accepted, with active pursuit of permanent licensure required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • 2 years of ICU experience highly preferred; candidates with less experience will still be considered
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and chest tube assistance
  • Experience managing continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
  • Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun and epicardial pacing wire care
  • Experience with massive transfusion protocol and IV insulin protocols preferred
  • Must complete a pass/fail Tele test with an 80% passing score during orientation (one attempt allowed)
  • Must complete a pass/fail medication exam at orientation
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher

Additional Information

  • Care for medically complex ICU patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Complete pre-start and orientation modules, with additional annual modules required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Minimal RTO desired, ideally 3-5 days, with no RTO allowed in the first week
  • Contract lengths of 13, 20, or 26 weeks accepted
  • Local candidates accepted within a 200-mile radius at the same bill rate
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
  • Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license will not be considered
