ID: 64431048 Shift: Second Shift 40 hrs per week, 2pm-1030pm throughout weekdays and 6am-6pm when assigned weekend shift Description: Job Summary:The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performance of a wide range of laboratory testing and testing interpretation. Additionally, the position requires the ability to take assigned responsibility for quality control, instrument maintenance, instrument and department related special studies, regulatory compliance, inventory management, and providing training and delegated competency assessment for assigned staff. The position requires moderate use of independent judgement, critical thinking and interpretation, and a high degree of accuracy. The Medical Laboratory Scientist has a broad educational knowledge of laboratory theory and concepts.Job Responsibilities:-Performs, analyzes, interprets and results assigned tests per laboratory section.-Understands and ensures sample quality and criteria are acceptable prior to testing.-Prioritizes and coordinates testing workflow and follow-up based on test priority.-Notifies caregiver of testing delays, specimen integrity issues, critical values or other items that may impact testing in a timely or required timeline.-Provides timely customer follow-up and resolution.-Perform other duties as assigned which may include, but not limited to phlebotomy.-Analyzes, interprets, reviews and troubleshoots quality control materials prior to testing.-Analyzes, interprets, reviews and troubleshoots special studies to include, but not limited to calibrations, correlations, validations, verifications, precision, analytical ranges, and clinical ranges.-Performs troubleshooting and required instrument maintenance at required intervals or as needed.-Assists with activities to support Laboratory Information System and software updates.-Provides training to new hires or other staff as assigned.-Completes self-competency assessment as required and participates in peer assessment as assigned.-Participates in providing updates and revisions as necessary to training and competency documents.-Completed all required departmental and organization continuing education.-Participates as assigned in the Laboratory s quality improvement processes, including scorecard objectives.-Participates in survey readiness. Reviews and monitors required checklists related to survey readiness.-Reviews and completes required policy and procedure review and follow-up as required and assigned.
