Travel Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - $2,182 per week in Clearlake, CA

Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist Profession: Clinical Laboratory Scientist Specialty: Clinical Laboratory Scientist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours (1 pm to 9 pm, Monday - Friday) Experience: Minimum of two years in all aspects of the clinical laboratory License: Currently licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by the State of California Certifications: N/A Must-Have: EPIC experience required; Wellsky experience preferred Description: Performs laboratory analysis on clinical specimens using established laboratory procedures. Reviews and evaluates quality controls, specimen integrity, and instrumentation to ensure accurate results are reported. Accommodates STAT orders consistently, reporting within one hour or as soon as available. Calls all critical values and critical test results to providers within 60 minutes of being available. Completes all required documentation. Assists in ensuring that all lab procedures and safety protocols are followed. Alerts supervisor when abnormalities or irregularities in tests are encountered while maintaining a workload productivity of at least 90%. Assists in ensuring that the department is continuously prepared for all regulatory surveys. Backs up staff by obtaining venous and arterial blood samples as required, following aseptic techniques. Checks for patient identification by using at least two patient identifiers before drawing samples and compares all demographic information to ensure accuracy. Completes required tests and/or observations of patient specimens, blood samples, or other products required for testing, reflecting attention to detail and accuracy. Follows established policies and procedures when drawing venous and arterial samples. Allows for adequate time to ensure hemostasis and calls for assistance if unable to obtain a blood sample after two attempts. Ensures validity and accuracy of results by continually checking quality control and properly maintaining instruments. Contacts and follows through with technical service when mechanical problems occur. Maintains adequate levels of reagents, calibrators, controls, and supplies. Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by regulatory agencies. Supervises staff as needed and supports the Director of Laboratory Services as assigned. Verifies that the appropriate specimen is being analyzed for the proper patient and for indicated tests, comparing against patient test orders. Completes test order entry accurately. Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
