Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and properly handle patient specimens.
- Receive patients, order and collect samples, and document laboratory activities using the EPIC Information System.
- Perform laboratory testing using both automated and manual methods.
- Work across multiple laboratory areas, including:
- Hematology
- Blood Bank
- Chemistry
- Urinalysis
- Microbiology
- Review and analyze test results for accuracy and validity before releasing results.
- Meet established turnaround times and appropriately communicate critical results.
- Perform quality control and proficiency testing according to established policies.
- Troubleshoot QC results and laboratory issues to ensure accurate testing.
- Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, and minor troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Participate in method and instrument evaluations and implementations.
- Assist with training new staff, partners, and students.
- Maintain competency in current laboratory procedures and obtain competency for newly implemented methods.
