Candidates without an in-hand license can apply for a temporary license. Acute care experience is mandatory. The role involves providing psychosocial and emotional support to patients and families. Social work is a consult-based service. Clinicians are responsible for completing psychosocial assessments. They must identify appropriate discharge plans from a person-centered approach. The work conducted should align with policy and regulations. Social work clinicians provide brief clinical interventions when appropriate. They assist with resource navigation and coordination of care. Clinicians screen for suicidality and engage in safety planning as needed. They complete reports of harm in accordance with state statutes. Collaboration with outside entities is also part of the role. Social work is divided into three primary areas: emergency department, pediatric care, and adult care teams. The pediatric team supports infants, children, and maternity units. The adult team focuses on inpatient units for patients over the age of 18. Clinicians work closely with case managers and the care team to coordinate safe and ethical discharge plans. The minimum educational requirement is a master's degree in social work from an accredited institution. Candidates must be able to accommodate weekend shifts as required.
