Job Summary Medical Surgical Float Nurse - Nights, located in the healthcare provider's acute care facility. This role involves providing skilled nursing care within a float pool encompassing general medicine, cardiology, post-surgical, and various Med-Surg units. The position requires adaptability to different units and patient care needs, with a focus on patient safety and quality care delivery.
Job Details
Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); at least 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience preferred, but candidates with less experience may be considered; licensure must be valid, with non-Oregon licensed Registered Nurses eligible for a temporary license; no specific location requirement.
Preferred Qualifications: Epic electronic medical record experience.
Additional Responsibilities: Must demonstrate competence with chest tubes, central lines, and heparin drips. RN will assume ratios defined by each Med-Surg unit, typically 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights, with some flexibility. RNs will work on units including post-surgical, orthopedics, neurology, and the heart center, among others.
Schedule & Requirements: Night shifts, every other week, with obligations to work some holidays and weekends. Standby call may be required when not actively needed.
Additional Information: RNs are expected to call into the staffing office each shift for assignment, with no scheduling requests accommodated for travelers. Scrubs can be of any color; tattoos above shoulders and facial piercings (except nose stud) are not permitted. Orientation consists of 2-12 hour shifts.
