Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Neuro RN with an active MN license for a 13-week assignment at a Level II Trauma teaching hospital.

Details

• Work in a 45-bed Neuroscience Spine Unit, including an 8-bed Neuro Progressive Care Unit (NPCU) step-down area
• Team nursing model utilized on the general unit (RN, LPN, NA) with a primary nurse model (RN, NA) in the NPCU
• Patient ratios range from 4-7 patients depending on team composition, with 1:3 ratio in the NPCU
• Unit features ceiling lifts in 20 rooms, ICP and ART line monitoring, cardiac monitoring, remote cardiac monitoring in all rooms, continuous EEG monitoring, and lumbar drainage system capabilities
• 4x12 Day or Night shift schedule with every other weekend rotation and rotating holidays
• On-call requirements determined by unit need
• Float required within scope to like units including surgical care, medical units, and inpatient rehab units
• Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Active Minnesota RN license required in hand or proof of application submitted (not a compact state)
• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Neuro experience required
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code team protocols required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level II Trauma acute care hospital
• Utilize rapid response teams as part of standard care protocols
• Holiday coverage required as needed by the facility
• Candidates must complete required lab work and Livescan fingerprinting within 48 hours of signing their contract
• Fingerprinting must be completed in person in Minnesota on the Monday prior to the scheduled start date, per state requirement
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live more than 25 miles from the facility
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted per assignment, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks
