Job Summary
The Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Nurse position is based in Seattle, Washington. This role involves providing specialized care to adult and geriatric patients with oncology diagnoses, including leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. The nurse will be responsible for administering chemotherapy, managing ports, and supporting research-related activities, all within a busy medical surgical oncology setting.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certifications include BLS, ONS/ONCC, and OCNS; 2 years of recent oncology experience; valid license; location requirements are met as per facility standards
- Preferred Qualifications: Chemotherapy and immunotherapy certification (ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration course), experience with chest tube setup, BiPap, sedation procedures, wound care, vascular access, and special procedures
- Float: Float to meet unit staffing needs; may float to similar units (Medical Surgical)
- Additional Information: Candidates must have a hardstop of 2 years recent oncology experience. Experience with clinical trials, CART, stem cell transplant, and hematology/oncology procedures highly preferred. Candidates working toward certification may be screened with managerial approval.
- Special Procedures/Unit Details: Chest tube setup and care, BiPap/CPAP, sedation, port access, syringe pumps, wound vac, and management of infusion devices are preferred skills.
- Certifications and Skills: BLS, ONCC/ONS Chemotherapy certification, experience managing ports and administering chemotherapy, blood and blood products, care of leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma patients, and related supportive procedures.
- References Required: Two references covering at least one year (six months for CNAs) within the last three years, prior to start.
