Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of acute care experience and a CO or Compact RN license.

Details

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit with 36 staffed beds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• Floating within scope required, including to sister facilities based on facility needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 (day) and 1:5 (night), which may flex up based on staffing needs
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system
• Navy scrubs required

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years acute care experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Oncology certification (OCN/ONS/ONCC) preferred but not required
• Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• Experience with IV therapy, port access/management, and central/PICC line care
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and sepsis
• Experience administering chemotherapy via multiple routes preferred
• Comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to inpatient oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Manage symptom control for patients experiencing nausea, neuropathy, altered mental status, and other treatment-related side effects
• Provide psychosocial support including advanced directive discussions and hospice care coordination
• Perform wound care, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, and foley catheter management as needed
• Maintain neutropenic precautions and proper isolation/PPE protocols
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may be considered
