About the Unit

Join a specialized 28-room Medical-Surgical Oncology unit caring for adult patients with a variety of medical, surgical, and oncology diagnoses.

The unit includes two Comfort Care Suites, providing dedicated spaces for patients receiving end-of-life care. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who want to expand their oncology experience while working in a collaborative acute-care environment.

Typical patient ratio: 1:5–6

Patient Population

  • Adult medical/surgical patients
  • Oncology patients
  • Patients requiring telemetry monitoring
  • Patients receiving complex medical treatment
  • End-of-life/comfort-care patients


Key Clinical Skills

Candidates with the following experience are especially encouraged to apply:

Required/Essential

  • Medical/Surgical nursing
  • Oncology patient care
  • Epic EMR experience
  • IV therapy
  • Starting and maintaining IVs
  • Cardiac monitoring
  • Emergency response
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Isolation precautions/PPE
  • Rapid Response/Code Team experience

Preferred

  • Port access and management
  • Chemotherapy administration
  • Chemotherapy monitoring
  • Telemetry Oncology
  • PCA management
  • Phlebotomy


Qualifications & Certifications

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Recent Med/Surg/Oncology experience
  • Epic experience required
  • BLS/BCLS
  • NIHSS
  • Fire Safety certification/training

Travelers: First-time travelers are welcome!

License: Pending licenses may be accepted, subject to facility requirements.


Schedule & Weekend Requirements

  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • 3×12-hour shifts
  • 36 guaranteed hours/week
  • No required on-call
  • Weekend requirement is generally 2 shifts every other weekend
  • For night shift, weekend scheduling may be Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday, depending on the existing rotation
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • Floating may occasionally be required within the nurse's scope of practice


Orientation & Onboarding

  • Approximately 38 hours of orientation
  • Required facility onboarding and safety requirements must be completed before/at the start of the assignment
  • Strong emphasis on Epic competency and unit-specific clinical skills
