Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor nurse Nights Area. This position involves providing patient care for a diverse adult and geriatric population on a specialized medical-surgical unit. The role emphasizes neurological assessment, stroke recovery support, and a broad range of clinical duties within a fast-paced environment.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid licenses in the relevant jurisdiction, two years of experience in medical-surgical nursing, proficiency with electronic charting in Epic, certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and experience with patient ratios of 1:6.
• Preferred Qualifications: Travel experience is preferred but not required.
• Certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Skills: Blood product administration, bowel obstruction, chest tubes (including PleurEvac), colostomy/ileostomy management, continuous bladder irrigation, cerebrovascular accident (CVA) care, feeding tube management, Heparin and Insulin protocols, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions and PPE, IV insulin protocols, management of dysrhythmias, med/surg skills, mood disorders, telemetry monitoring, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks, PCA, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury, IV starts, substance withdrawal, use of rapid response and code teams.
• Additional Information: The unit supports interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary. It serves patients with neurology, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other medical/surgical diagnoses, with priority admission for those requiring neurological and intensive care. The unit is fully equipped with telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring to support early detection of patient condition changes.
