Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a General Neuro Med/Surg unit position requiring night shifts and prior travel experience.

Details

  • Work on a 19-private-room Medical Surgical/Neuro unit (3 South)
  • Care for a patient population ranging from young adults to geriatric patients
  • Priority admissions include medical, surgical, and neurology/neurosurgical diagnoses requiring medical surgical level monitoring and care
  • Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Epic charting system used
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00)

Requirements

  • Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with 1:6 patient ratios
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, feeding tube care, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac management

Additional Information

  • Provide medical surgical and neurological nursing care including monitoring, interventions, and management of complex patient needs
  • Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are not accepted for this position
  • Candidates residing in the following Texas counties are not accepted: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
  • No travel pairs or groups accepted
  • Former permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of consideration
  • No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved
  • RTO is not permitted during the first week of orientation
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
