Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg night shift position in Alabama, with IV therapy, wound care, and float charge nurse responsibilities.
Details
- Medical/Surgical unit in a hospital setting
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6
- Skills required include IV starts, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
- Schedule is nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00) with an option for 4x12s
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required
- Charge nurse responsibilities on an as-needed basis
- 8-week contract
Requirements
- Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand or pending
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Current fit test required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
- Level II Trauma experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as a permanent employee are not eligible for this travel assignment
- Local candidates within a 60-mile radius of the facility are considered, though at a different pay rate
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the assignment
- Hospital housing is available on-site — shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; male/female units only; no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate directly with the facility
- The facility is located in a remote area, making on-site housing a practical option
- Flight reimbursement is available for travelers flying to and from the assignment (economy class only)
- Meal breaks are required — skipping the 30-minute lunch break is not permitted
