Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel assignment in Alabama, requiring an AL or Compact RN license, BLS certification, and skills in wound care, IV therapy, and isolation precautions.

Details

  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30), with an option for 4x12-hour shifts
  • Medical/Surgical unit serving an adult and geriatric patient population
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Required skills include IV starts, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
  • Preferred skills include blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, heparin, insulin, PCA, MS/Tele, surgical drains, and respiratory support (nasal cannula, oxygen administration)
  • Charge nurse responsibilities may be required on an as-needed basis
  • Floating required
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Paragon EMR experience preferred
  • Level II Trauma experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active AL or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Current Fit Test required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Travel nursing experience preferred
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Prior permanent employees of this facility are not eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • 30-minute meal break is required and may not be skipped
  • RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the assignment
  • Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted at a different rate
  • Hospital housing is available and consists of shared units with shared common spaces and private bedrooms; male and female units are separate, and no dogs are permitted — travelers coordinate housing directly with the facility
  • The facility is located in a remote area, and hospital housing is the recommended accommodation option
  • The facility will provide flight reimbursement (economy class only) and airport pickup at the start of the assignment for traveling candidates
