Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical/Surgical unit with a renal focus, requiring Epic experience and a minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

Details

  • Hospital Medical/Surgical unit with a renal focus, serving an adult to geriatric patient population
  • 49-room unit with an average daily census of 48 patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • EMR: Epic (required); Pyxis medication dispensing system also in use
  • SBAR communication framework utilized on the unit

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Preferred skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube care, heparin/insulin/PCA administration, wound care/wound vac, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, telemetry monitoring, and surgical drain management

Additional Information

  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted for this position
  • All RTO must be finalized prior to starting the assignment; no RTO or schedule requests may be made after acceptance
  • RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
  • Holiday coverage policy: if 1–2 major holidays fall during the assignment, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO available; if 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, travelers must work at least 2, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
  • Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as one)
  • No alternate shifts or special schedule requests are permitted; the posted night shift schedule is firm
  • Candidates who have previously worked at or for this health system as permanent, per diem, or FCSS staff must have been away from all system facilities for a full year before being considered as a traveler
  • Travelers who previously had a cancellation or facility DNR must complete one successful assignment outside of this health system before reapplying
  • Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
  • Copies of required certifications must be available for consideration
