Travel Nursing Job Details

- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights
- Shift Hours: 6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5–6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required within or near the assigned facility
- Unit Profile: Approximately 43 beds with a typical daily census of 39 patients
- Orientation: 24 hours, including hospital orientation during the first week
- Charting and Communication: Electronic documentation, SBAR communication, and automated medication dispensing systems
- Additional Expectations: Availability for storm, hurricane, disaster, or mass-casualty response may be required during the contract

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse experience
- Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state; pending licensure may be considered for submission
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Successful completion of an EKG competency assessment before the start date
- Strong experience with Med/Surg and telemetry nursing care
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Proficiency with IV starts, peripheral and PICC line care, central-line blood draws, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and medication protocols
- Experience caring for patients requiring oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, suctioning, isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac management
- Comfort with colostomy and feeding-tube care, chest tubes, surgical drains, PCA, heparin, and pre/post-hemodialysis management
- Ability to float as needed and work a rotating weekend schedule
Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical patients with conditions including pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleeding, anemia, hip fractures, renal failure, heart failure, diabetes, dementia, and postoperative recovery needs
- Monitor telemetry and recognize, interpret, and respond to dysrhythmias and other changes in patient status
- Administer medications and blood products safely while following IV insulin, heparin, and other established clinical protocols
- Perform nursing assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress
- Manage central and peripheral lines, PICC lines, ports, feeding tubes, colostomies, chest tubes, surgical drains, and wound care needs
- Support patients requiring oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway management, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and suctioning
- Apply infection-prevention practices and maintain appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment
- Collaborate with providers, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families to coordinate safe, effective care
- Respond to rapid-response or code situations within the scope of practice
- Document care accurately and communicate pertinent patient information using established electronic systems and SBAR
