Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Travel Nursing Contract in Lubbock, TX

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680–$1,770
- Location: Lubbock, Texas
- Healthcare Setting: Short-term acute care; Level II Trauma Center
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.; 36 hours per week
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 18, 2027
- Weekend Coverage: Weekend shifts are required and scheduled according to unit needs
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling may be available based on department requirements
- Floating: Flexibility to float between units and nearby affiliated facilities may be required
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical Registered Nursing experience
- Current Registered Nurse license; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Experience using Epic electronic health records
- Competency caring for adult and geriatric patients in an acute-care setting
- Proficiency with IV therapy, central lines, PICC lines, ports, blood products, drains, wound care, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and oxygen therapy
- Ability to manage patients with complex medical-surgical needs, including renal failure, CVA, traumatic brain injury, bowel obstruction, substance withdrawal, and end-of-life or comfort-care needs
- Willingness to work required weekends and participate in three of five designated holidays when scheduled
- Two professional references covering at least one year of recent clinical experience
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric Medical-Surgical patients throughout the night shift
- Assess patient conditions, develop and update individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
- Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring for changes in patient status
- Perform assessments and interventions related to respiratory support, IV access, central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, surgical drains, wound vacs, ostomies, feeding tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
- Recognize clinical deterioration and initiate appropriate interventions, including rapid response and code team activation
- Coordinate patient care with providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, social services, radiology, phlebotomy, and other support teams
- Provide patient and family education, emotional support, discharge teaching, and compassionate end-of-life care when appropriate
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses in Epic
- Maintain a safe, organized, and collaborative care environment while following infection prevention and isolation precautions
