Travel Nursing Job Details

Medical-Surgical Travel RN Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Active Registered Nurse license valid for practice in Texas; compact license must be in hand when applicable
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Recent experience with Epic electronic health records
- Proficiency caring for adult and geriatric patients in an acute care setting
- Clinical experience with IV therapy, central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, wound care, drains, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, oxygen therapy, and noninvasive airway management
- Ability to manage complex medical-surgical conditions, including renal failure, CVA, traumatic brain injury, bowel obstruction, substance withdrawal, and comfort-care needs
- Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work required weekend and holiday coverage and adapt to changing unit needs
Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients
- Complete comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
- Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, and other treatments in accordance with nursing standards
- Monitor patients with complex conditions and promptly recognize and communicate changes in clinical status
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, wound vacs, and continuous bladder irrigation as indicated
- Provide care for patients requiring oxygen, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, suctioning, and other noninvasive airway interventions
- Support patients and families through acute illness, end-of-life care, and comfort-focused treatment plans
- Document assessments, interventions, care coordination, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the care team
- Participate in emergency response activities and float to other units when assigned
