Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical - Neuro unit providing care for neuro surgical and neuro diagnosis patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly schedule options available
• Floating required within or near the facility
• 12-16 weekend shifts required per contract with some flexibility discussed with unit
• May be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
• Uses Pyxis, SBAR, and Epic for medication, documentation, and communication

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license acceptable at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Neuro experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with telemetry, isolation precautions/PPE, non-invasive airway management, nasal cannula, and peripheral IV therapy
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care for patients with neurological and cerebrovascular diagnoses, including CVA cases
• Two orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
• Navy scrubs required
• Must complete approximately 8-10 hours of pre-start and annual online modules for acute care roles
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
• Former Novant Health/New Hanover PERM, PRN, or EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel contract status
