Join a collaborative acute-care team as a Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in Spokane, Washington. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers experienced RNs the opportunity to care for adult and geriatric patients in a Level III trauma setting while working alongside strong interdisciplinary support, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, IV services, rapid response teams, and more. - Typical Ratios: Approximately 5:1 during days and 6:1 during nights
- Unit Environment: Medical-surgical care supporting internal medicine admissions and postoperative patients

- Call: Not required

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical registered nursing experience
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington; compact license must be in hand when applicable
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Demonstrated ability to care for a varied adult and geriatric patient population in an acute-care environment
- Current clinical knowledge of medical-surgical assessments, medication administration, IV therapy, postoperative care, and patient education
- Ability to work three 12-hour night shifts per week and participate in every-other-weekend coverage
- Adaptability to float between units or nearby affiliated locations when operationally needed
- Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and prioritization skills
Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical patients
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, identify changes in condition, and promptly escalate concerns
- Manage patients with internal medicine diagnoses and postoperative needs, including orthopedic, abdominal, urologic, and colorectal procedures
- Administer medications, blood products, insulin therapies, oxygen, and other treatments according to orders and established protocols
- Provide care for central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, surgical drains, wound vacuums, ostomies, and continuous bladder irrigation as indicated
- Support patients experiencing renal failure, bowel obstruction, substance withdrawal, mood disorders, and other complex medical conditions
- Recognize and respond to patient deterioration while collaborating with rapid response and interdisciplinary teams
- Document assessments, interventions, care plans, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and ongoing care needs
- Collaborate with virtual nurses, nursing assistants, charge nurses, resource nurses, providers, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation services, and other care team members
- Float between units as assigned and contribute to a team-based care model
