Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical (MS) Nurse is needed for a day shift position at a healthcare facility in Hastings, Nebraska. This role involves providing care on a Medical Surgical floor with a mix of patients including those with dementia, post-surgical needs, influenza, pneumonia, cancer, COVID, and other acute conditions. The position offers an opportunity to work in a busy environment with diverse patient diagnoses, supporting clinical excellence and patient recovery.
Job Details:
- Shift: Days - 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, every other weekend, with potential for additional weekend coverage based on unit needs.
- Schedule: 12 hours, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: BLS Certification; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience on a Medical Surgical floor; active nursing license; location within Nebraska; ability to start on 08/17/2026.
- Preferred Qualifications: Chest tube experience, pain management, TPN, CBI, wound care experience, charge nurse experience is a plus but not required.
- Responsibilities: Manage patient care for a variety of acute and post-surgical cases, collaborate with nurse aides and respiratory therapy, float to PCU if needed, and follow department policies for dress code and orientation.
- Additional Information: Orientation includes two days of nursing department training and one day on the unit. The unit utilizes EPIC charting system and Tele/Monitor Techs read monitor data. No call or standby required; staff may work some holidays and every third weekend, with flexibility requested.
