Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position at a teaching hospital requiring at least 1 year of experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit within a short-term acute care teaching hospital
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Every other Friday and Saturday required
• Floating to other units and sister facilities based on skill set and staffing needs
• No on-call requirements
• No block scheduling

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact license must be in hand at submission)
• OR RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Experience with respiratory care including oxygen administration, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE
• Experience with GI and GU/renal patient care, including ostomy management and CBI
• Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required
• Must disclose any prior work history with the health system, including permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem roles

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit with a focus on post-surgical and acute medical patients
• Utilize skills across respiratory, GI, GU, endocrine, and neurological care as needed
• Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment
• Scrub color is unrestricted for Med/Surg (OR/Cath Lab scrubs provided by facility)
• No parking fees at this facility
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• First-time travelers considered, pending license approval
• Previous permanent staff may return after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at standard bill rate
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
