Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and EKG interpretation skills.

Details

  • Med/Surg unit in a short-term acute care hospital — a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
  • Patient population includes acute renal failure, pneumonia, acute pancreatitis, UTI, encephalopathy/cirrhosis, sickle cell pain crisis, chest pain, COPD, asthma exacerbation, syncope, DM Type I, and ketoacidosis
  • Patient ratio of 1:3–5
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within service line required
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • Charting via Epic (required)
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active MO RN license or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence; MO license may be pending at time of consideration)
  • Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
  • Must pass a Relias EKG exam — interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Demonstrated skills in respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, non-invasive airway management), IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, phlebotomy, heparin, insulin, and PCA management
  • Wound care and wound vac experience required
  • Colostomy/ileostomy management experience required
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who are or have been permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before being considered as a traveler at any BJC facility
  • Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • All RTO must be finalized prior to consideration — no additional RTO requests will be accepted after that point
  • Pre-start orientation modules are required and must be completed approximately two weeks before the start date
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing; no exceptions
  • Parking passes are available on a monthly basis through facility Public Safety at various price points depending on lot selection
