Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with 2+ years of experience and a VA or compact RN license for a night shift position with a 1:6 patient ratio.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit (2 West – Medical Innovation Unit) focused on new technology and innovative nursing practice
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00), with every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Uses Hercules beds and Meditech charting system (preferred experience)
• Staff self-schedule in rotating weekly groups
• Holiday rotation required, including one summer and one winter holiday
• Floating required at times to cover staffing needs

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills preferred: accessing/managing ports, central line blood draw, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, colostomy/ileostomy care, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, and rapid response/code team utilization
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PICC line management, oxygen administration, feeding tube care, and medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA) required
• Telemetry monitoring experience required

• Provide direct patient care on an innovative medical/surgical unit that pilots new technologies and nursing practice models
• RTO policy: if one holiday falls within the assignment, expect to work it; if two, expect to work one; if three, expect to work two
• Zero-tolerance drug policy applies, including no acceptance of medical marijuana cards
• Fit testing required, which may require shaving unless a pre-approved medical exemption is obtained
• Drug screening required both during compliance and again on the first day onsite
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at this facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
