Travel Nursing Job Details

• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatric patients

Travel RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico; license must be in hand before the start date
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience required; 3 or more years preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience is not required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Current PALS certification required; PALS may be completed onsite during the first week
• Experience with electronic medical record documentation
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to care for patients across a broad age range and clinical acuity levels
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary support teams
• Two professional references required at submission
• A 75-mile radius rule applies; local candidates are not accepted

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical patients during 12-hour night shifts
• Assess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications, blood products, insulin, heparin, and other prescribed treatments safely
• Monitor telemetry and recognize, interpret, and respond to dysrhythmias and changes in patient status
• Manage oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, non-invasive airways, and suctioning
• Perform and document IV starts, peripheral and PICC line care, wound care, wound-vac care, surgical drain care, and ostomy care
• Provide care for patients with orthopedic trauma, postoperative needs, and complex medical conditions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Apply isolation precautions and infection-prevention practices consistently
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, phlebotomy, social services, and interpretation services
• Educate patients and families while promoting safety, comfort, and continuity of care
