Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical unit position on night shift, requiring 2 years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • 13-week assignment
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6
  • Diverse patient population including sepsis, COPD, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, and isolation cases
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting
  • Required to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

Requirements

  • Active RN license (State or Compact) required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy, central line care, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE
  • Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and rapid response protocols

  • Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care across a wide range of diagnoses and patient age groups from infants to geriatrics
  • Document care thoroughly in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards
  • Maintain professional competencies and support ongoing professional development
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environment
  • Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
  • Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
  • No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
