Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit with a diverse patient population including sepsis, COPD, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, and cardiac conditions
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Required to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active State or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and administration of Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and EMR software

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across the lifespan including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Apply the nursing process with thorough documentation per regulatory and hospital standards
• Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring adaptability to changing patient safety protocols
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be accepted
• Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups will not be considered for this position
• Must complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
