Job Summary Medical-Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) The organization is seeking experienced registered nurses for a Medical-Surgical unit at their healthcare facility. The position involves providing compassionate care to medical and telemetry patients in an acute care setting, with a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes.
Job Details
Location: Medical-Surgical Floor at the organization
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days (7:00 AM 7:30 PM) and nights (7:00 PM 7:30 AM), minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that application process has been initiated, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in telemetry, managing common diagnoses such as heart failure, diabetic conditions, and end-of-life care; ability to monitor telemetry equipment including Space Lab monitors; proficiency in electronic charting using EPIC system; flexibility to float to other units as needed
Additional Information:
Unit notes specify patient ratios of 1:4-5 during days and 1:5 at night, with occasional float to MedSurg and ICU for overflow.
Nurses are required to work every other weekend and holiday, with specific days designated for each.
No vents, but BiPap and Cpap equipment are monitored by RTs; nurses do not handle these devices beyond troubleshooting.
Charge nurses also take assignments, and nurse aides or patient care technicians assist as needed.
Orientation typically involves two shifts, with consideration for three if necessary.
Charting is completed in the EPIC system.
