Job Summary:
The healthcare provider is seeking a Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) in Weirton, West Virginia. This role involves providing patient care on an acute care medical-surgical unit, with responsibilities including administering treatments, monitoring patient vitals, and collaborating with healthcare team members. The position offers a night shift schedule, with a focus on patient-centered care for a diverse patient population.
Job Details:
- Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. The schedule includes working every other weekend and potential holiday rotations, such as Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, current BLS certification, at least 1 year of clinical experience in a medical-surgical setting, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EKGs, vital signs monitoring, and patient assessments. Knowledge of electronic charting systems is advantageous.
- Unit/Duty Details:
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:5-7 during days, 1:6-8 during nights, with an overall nurse-patient ratio averaging 1:10-12.
- Responsibilities include taking vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, administering EKGs, applying heart monitors, assisting with bathing, feeding, toileting, and patient turning and positioning.
- RN staff may troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment such as BiPAP, CPap, and high-flow oxygen, and may administer breathing treatments and inhalers.
- Telemetry monitors are observed by designated monitor techs; RNs are not expected to interpret telemetry strips independently.
- Charge nurses operate during shifts, with designated responsibilities for patient assignments and overseeing unit operations.
- Additional Information:
- The orientation includes a one-day session on the electronic charting system and unit procedures, plus a one-day preceptor-led orientation.
- Scrubs are provided in navy blue for RNs, with dress code policies observed.
- The facility enforces a 50-mile radius submission rule; all candidate submissions must include a valid, unexpired drivers license.
