Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurses are needed for a night shift position in a high-acuity inpatient surgical unit. The role involves caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses including neuro procedures, joint replacements, and various surgical interventions, with a focus on administering medications, interpreting telemetry strips, and managing complex patient needs in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts starting at 7:00 PM with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS (AHA), NIHSS certification, at least 2 years of surgical nursing experience, EPIC electronic health record experience, total joint experience, understanding of PCA pumps and sepsis management, and experience with TPN and Lipids.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with narcotic administration, titration of drips, and telemetry interpretation.
• Float: Float to like units only; floating to higher acuity units would involve assisting as a help as opposed to patient load.
• Additional Information: The unit is fast-paced with a heavy patient load, including up to 12 surgical admissions per day. The orientation includes a 12-hour shift on the shift of hire with first-day orientation lasting 12-14 hours. The unit uses EPIC for charting and requires NURSE to be familiar with telemetry strips. The staff may include LPNs, CNAs, and equipment such as CPAP and vents.
• Certification Requirements: BLS (AHA), NIHSS.
