Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Neuro Unit position requiring 2 years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical - Neuro Unit with a general medicine focus on neurological patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• 13-20 week assignments accepted
• Floating required, with travelers floating first
• Weekend requirement of 5-6 shifts, equating to every other weekend
• Manager-based scheduling
• Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
• May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty incidents

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license (pending accepted at submission)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required (hard requirement)
• Experience with 1:6-7 patient ratios
• Neuro experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience or willingness to learn the role preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Experience with nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Unit orientation is 24 hours, conducted weekly
• Pre-start modules required (8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online and annually
• Navy blue scrubs required; not provided by facility
