Job Summary:
An RN (Registered Nurse) specializing in Medical Surgical (MS) nursing is needed for a contracted position in Wausau, WI. This role involves providing inpatient care within a 10-bed unit, with responsibilities including Med/Surg patient management and supporting patients in Palliative Care, Comfort/Hospice, and Med/Surg settings. The position offers a rotating shift schedule, with day and night shifts, and requires handling variable hours, including holiday rotations.

Job Details:

• Location: Wausau, WI
• Position: Palliative Care Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical Floor (MS)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (from 10/05/2026 to 01/02/2027)
• Schedule: Rotating shifts; 12-hour variable shifts, days and nights, with every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
• Required Certifications: Wisconsin RN license, American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year inpatient palliative care experience preferred; 2 years medical-surgical experience required; Epic charting experience required
• Skills: Med/Surg skill set is required. Experience in Palliative Care or Hospice is preferred.
• Clinical Details: The unit has 10 beds, with 2 RNs and 1 Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) per 10 patients, with a 5:1 RN ratio. The unit requires social candidates who are resilient, adaptable to change, and hardworking.
• Float Requirement: Float to any inpatient unit may be required
• Additional Information: The contract is eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, which can be worked in 4 or 8-hour increments. The GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation. During holidays, the unit may be closed, and hours are guaranteed otherwise.
