Job Summary Medical Surgical Floor RN - Wausau, WI. This position involves providing expert nursing care in a fast-paced post-surgical unit, specializing in adult and geriatric patient recovery following surgery. The RN will work in a 40-bed inpatient unit with a patient ratio typically ranging from 1:4 to 1:7, supporting patient care needs across a continuum.
Job Details
Certifications: Wisconsin RN License and BLS - American Heart Association or American Red Cross; Associate Degree or Certificate required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Location Requirements: Wausau, WI.
Years of Experience: 2+ years Med Surg experience, recent hospital experience; Trauma level II experience required; prior travel experience required.
Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
Responsibilities include multi-tasking, prioritizing patient care based on acuity, and working effectively within a team in a high-volume environment.
Charting system: Epic.
Equipment used: Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, Alaris pumps.
Unit Overview: The unit handles an average of 10-15 admissions daily, with an occupancy rate of 90-95% during the week and an average length of stay of 2-3 days, excluding joint cases.
Additional information: The position involves working every other weekend and holiday, with some hours potentially low censused in hourly increments. During flu season, vaccination decliners are required to wear masks during shifts; compliance is mandatory.
