Medical Surgical Nurse with Stroke Stepdown Experience

Shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM. Block scheduling is not promised or guaranteed.
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical Nurse specializing in Stroke Stepdown care to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will handle a variety of cases including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, and general medical-surgical care.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate care for adult patients on the stroke stepdown unit.
- Utilize specialty equipment including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, reporting any changes to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families.
- Effectively float between units as required.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical nursing with Stroke Stepdown experience.
- Travel experience is required.
- Current AHA BLS certification and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, if not already obtained.
- Active nursing licensure with a drivers license matching the registered address.
- Completion of skills checklist matching specialty is required.
