Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position at a short-term acute care hospital in Missouri, requiring 2 years of experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting
  • Float pool position covering medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, cardiology, renal, and telemetry units
  • Patient ratios of 1:5–6 on days/weekends and 1:6 on nights
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
  • Every other weekend required, or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Holiday rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float pool nurses call into a recorded line up to 1 hour before shift start to receive their unit assignment; pre-assignment to a specific unit for part of the contract is possible and will be communicated in advance
  • Charting system: Epic (experience required for certain units)
  • Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

  • Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license may be accepted with notation
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, IV insertion proficiency, and telemetry experience
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required for certain units
  • Ability to use lift devices (ceiling lifts) and bladder scanner (training provided)
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travel RNs may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
