Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on night shift, requiring TN or compact RN license and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit serving as the primary stroke and TIA unit, also caring for higher acuity med-surg patients
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, PNA, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
• Performs peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Staffing ratio of 1:6 on nights
• Uses Omnicell medication system and Epic EMR
• Floating required to other units based on facility need and staff competency

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a Med/Surg Tele unit required
• Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing cardiac drips, insulin, heparin, and PCA medications
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care

Additional Information

• Focus on delivering a strong patient experience within a high-acuity stroke and med-surg tele unit
• Assignment length is 13 weeks with an option to extend to 26 weeks
• Orientation occurs every Monday along with annual compliance training
• Pre-assignment testing and required modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Travelers must be more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible, unless applying under the night shift exception requiring 50+ miles from the contracted campus
