Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring a TN or compact RN license and prior EPIC EMR experience.

Details

• Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in stroke and TIA patients, along with higher acuity med-surg cases
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Nights staffing ratio of 1:6
• Floating required to other units based on facility need and staff competencies
• Uses Omnicell medication system
• Performs peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a Med/Surg Tele unit required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access and management, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tube management
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) experience
• Experience managing CVA and substance withdrawal patients
• Medication administration experience including heparin, insulin, and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry remote monitoring
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a stroke/TIA and higher acuity med-surg unit with a strong focus on patient experience
• Unit emphasizes specialized procedures such as peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation
• May float to other Prisma Health units or campuses based on census needs, limited to units where competencies are demonstrated
• Contract options available for 13 or 26 weeks
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Pre-assignment testing and required modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Orientation occurs every Monday
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible, with reduced eligibility distances for certain night shift specialties as low as 50 miles
