Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry at a healthcare organization in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The position involves providing high-quality patient care on a Med/Surg unit with telemetry monitoring, supporting a variety of patient conditions including chest pain, post-cath lab, CHF, AFib, cerebrovascular events, and other acute care needs. The role is suitable for first-time travelers and requires adaptability to a fast-paced environment during night shifts.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification; 0-2 years of experience in acute care; current licensure as an RN; ability to perform ostomy care, manage IVs, and handle drip medications such as heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone; experience in observation units and admissions/discharges preferred; ability to care for ambulatory patients; supportive skills for telemetry, electronic fetal heart monitoring, and charting with EPIC system.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with basic medical-surgical skills, telemetry, and fast-paced unit operations.
- Additional Information: Support team includes charge nurses, unit secretary, hospitalist, RT, telemetry tech, and phlebotomy. Orientation includes 4-8 hours of Neuro (NEO) training, and scheduling is created six weeks in advance. Staff adherence to fatigue policies and holiday rotation expectations are required; scrub color can be any (no camo/denim). Documentation must include pain levels before and after medication administration.
