Job Summary: Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical With Telemetry (MS TELE) is sought for an acute care unit located in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing patient care within a neuroscience-focused unit that handles conditions such as stroke, spine surgery, brain tumors, and head injuries. The position requires adherence to established protocols and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care on a 12-hour day shift schedule.
Job Details:
Schedule: 12-hour days shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS (AHA), NIHSS certification, and a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have level 1 trauma experience, previous travel experience (no first-time travelers), and prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. Heparin titration experience is required for managing heparin drips based on PTT.
Responsibilities: Managing routine patient care in a neuroscience and medical-surgical environment; performing titratable and set rate drips; troubleshooting high flow oxygen equipment for stable COVID-19 patients when needed; reading telemetry strips; following unit-specific orientation and protocols.
Additional Information: The unit maintains a charge nurse 24/7 and a house supervisor; nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during days, 1:5-6 at night, with patient care tech support on each shift; float rotations are in place with staff skilled in various unit needs; orientation includes 2 days of computer and unit-specific training with an educator and a preceptor.
