Jackson HealthPros is hiring a Clinical / Medical Laboratory Scientist (formerly Medical Technologist) to perform diagnostic testing on patient samples and analyze test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits to aid physicians in the diagnosis or monitoring of various disease states.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field, or completion of at least 60 semester hours (including six hours of chemistry and six hours of biology) plus completion of a nationally accredited medical lab technician program.
- MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) certification or eligibility by a nationally recognized certification agency, preferably ASCP. Licensing as required by state regulations.
- BLS certification.
- Knowledge of hematology slide review, including identification of immature cells.
- Experience with blood bank procedures including antibody identification and elutions. Familiarity with Grifols Eflexis gel testing and tube testing is preferred.
- Experience with instrumentation or willingness to train on: Beckman/Coulter DXH 800 (hematology), Stago Compact Max (coagulation), Roche chemistry analyzers, Clinitek Advantus (urinalysis), ABL90 (blood gas), and point-of-care kit testing (Mono, Strep, HIV, C. diff, Fecal WBCs, COVID, Flu A/B).
- Ability to perform and document quality control and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Preferred: 2 years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hospital laboratory setting.
- Experience with Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
- Experience assisting with training of new staff and students.
Assignment Details
- 8-hour shifts: 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM or 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
- Every 3rd weekend rotation.
- One summer holiday required.
