Job Opportunity – Phlebotomist / Laboratory Assistant – South Lake Tahoe, CA, 96150

Start Date: August 3, 2026

Location: South Lake Tahoe, California – situated at nearly 6,200 feet above sea level in a beautiful mountain community

Schedule: 10-hour evening shifts, 40 guaranteed hours per week. Initial 89-day assignment with potential 9-month extension after successful completion of training. Flexibility for short-notice coverage for evening and night shifts required.

Highlights:
  • Work in a non-profit community health system serving a Level III Trauma Center
  • High-volume laboratory environment with diverse responsibilities including phlebotomy, arterial blood gas collection, microbiology culture setup, and EKG performance
  • Comprehensive two-week orientation with assigned preceptors for hands-on training
  • Opportunity for long-term extension (9 months) following successful initial assignment
  • Collaborative team environment with two laboratory assistants working per shift Monday through Friday

Requirements:
  • Current California Phlebotomy Certificate Type I or II
  • Nevada Laboratory Assistant license or proof of application submitted prior to start date (must obtain within 6 months)
  • Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Provider)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute care setting; rural health experience preferred
  • Ishihara Test for Color Blindness
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy, specimen collection and handling, customer service, and effective communication
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Successful completion of comprehensive background checks, drug screening (oral swab for THC metabolites on day one), and immunization requirements
