Join a leading acute-care hospital as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN in Winston-Salem, NC. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a Level 1 Trauma Designation facility that is also a teaching hospital and Chest Pain Center. With a focus on patient-centered care, you will be part of a dedicated team committed to providing high-quality healthcare.

Unit Information:

• Beds: 16 (Census full)
• Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years of experience in MedSurg
• First-time travelers are welcome!

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• General Medicine - Geriatric related diagnoses, Diabetes Mellitus, Gastrointestinal, Respiratory, Renal, Wounds, Dressing Changes.
• Patient population: 65+ years, functional, community dwellers with a focus on mobilization.
• Patient turnover: 3-4 patients per shift.

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 5-6:1
• CNA: 8:1

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• BLS certification

Skills Required:

• Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels
• Experience reading telemetry strips
• Strong IV skills and time management

Support within the Department:

• CNA: Provides basic nursing care to assigned patients and assists RN where needed
• Receptionist/HUC
• Charge nurse
• Phlebotomy
• Rapid Response Team available 24/7
• Centralized Telemetry monitoring/tech
• Educator
• Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy/Speech Therapy support

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Epic
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Omnicell

Floating: Possible to 8 Reynolds, 8 North, 9 North A/B, 9 Ardmore, 10 Ardmore, 8 North-B, 8 Ardmore

Orientation:

• NEO
• 2 days departmental orientation
