Description

American Traveler is hiring a Medical ICU RN for a night shift teaching hospital assignment requiring EPIC experience and MICU critical care skills.

Details

• MICU unit within a teaching hospital short-term acute care facility
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Float required to two additional hospital locations within 20 miles as needed
• Charting completed in EPIC
• No block scheduling accommodations available
• No on-call requirements specified

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required at time of consideration
• NIHSS certification required prior to start
• Minimum 18 months of MICU experience required, 2 years preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure patients
• Proficient in arterial line and central line management
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Proficient in ETT and NT suctioning
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• One professional reference required from a direct supervisor, ANM, or director in the applicable specialty

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to medically complex ICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
• White scrub color required
• Time-sensitive EPIC training modules must be completed promptly once assignment is confirmed
• EKG and pharmacology testing required during orientation with a maximum of two attempts each
• Annual hands-on competency training required for continuous or returning contract nurses
• Expected to work every other holiday
• COVID-19 and flu vaccinations required, with medical or religious exemptions only
• Facility is smoke-free and requires a negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine/cotinine testing
• All requested time off must be disclosed and approved at time of consideration
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate

• Former permanent or per diem staff must wait one year from their previous end date before returning
