Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring 2 years of current acute care experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• MICU unit within a hospital setting caring for adults and geriatric patients
• Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis
• Manages hemodynamically compromised patients requiring mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheters, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, clinical trials, and plasmapheresis
• Patients may require bronchoscopy or endoscopy for underlying pulmonary and GI conditions
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 3x per week, with possible rotation to days based on department needs
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period with changes based on staffing priorities
• EPIC charting system required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience in the MICU specialty, consistently worked within the last 12 months
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• EPIC experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy, port access/management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT, NT), ventilator management, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• EVD management preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; second reference may be from a Charge RN; coworker references not accepted

• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• RTO must be requested at time of submission and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will complete a mailed fingerprinting packet
