Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical ICU with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses such as sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, and overdose
  • Titrate a wide variety of vasoactive and cardioactive drips in accordance with physician-outlined medication order parameters
  • Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices
  • Interpret and read cardiac monitor strips using Philips telemetry equipment in collaboration with telemetry technicians
  • Manage arterial lines and central lines, and provide advanced care for ventilated patients
  • Float to lower levels of care as needed, assuming adjusted patient ratios on stepdown or general medical units

Required Qualifications

  • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Ability to interpret EKG strips
  • Proficiency with arterial lines and central lines
  • Advanced knowledge in titrating vasopressors and vasoactive medications
  • Must pass a multi-panel drug screen prior to placement; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior experience caring for COVID-positive or complex respiratory ICU patients
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health records system
  • Experience working in a unit supported by intensivist coverage and tele-medicine intensivist services
